The elections are scheduled to take place from December 7 to 17, where she will compete against six other candidates from different countries.
Her nomination comes at a time when Kenya’s apex court could face significant changes ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The Judicial Service Commission is currently recruiting a replacement for the late Mohamed Ibrahim, while Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu is set to retire in April 2027.
If elected to the ICC, Ndung’u’s departure could leave the Supreme Court with up to three vacancies before the next general election, potentially reshaping the bench that has ruled on the country’s last three presidential election disputes.
