In its monthly pricing review issued on May 14, EPRA announced an adjustment in the maximum pump prices for petroleum products. While Super Petrol and Diesel prices have been revised, Kerosene remains unchanged.
Following the review, motorists in Nairobi will pay Ksh 214.25 per litre for Super Petrol, Ksh 242.92 for Diesel, and Ksh 152.78 for Kerosene. The new prices took effect at midnight and will remain in force for the next 30 days.
EPRA noted that the listed prices are inclusive of Value Added Tax (VAT), in accordance with the VAT Act, 2013, alongside provisions in the Finance Act, 2023, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act, 2024, and updated excise duty rates adjusted for inflation under Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020.
Meanwhile, the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) has pointed to a drop in global oil prices in its weekly bulletin dated May 7. The decline was attributed to concerns over weakening global demand and improved supply conditions.
According to CBK data, Murban crude oil prices fell to USD 89.13 per barrel on May 7, down from USD 100.21 recorded on April 30, reflecting the shifting dynamics in the international oil market.
The changes in global oil prices continue to play a significant role in influencing local fuel costs, even as domestic taxes and levies remain a key component of pump prices in Kenya.
