14 Suspects Arraigned Over Kisumu, Nyahururu Violence as Police Vow Tough Action

In a statement issued on Monday, July 13, the police said the suspects were presented before court to face charges related to the disturbances that disrupted public order in the two towns.

“The National Police Service informs the public that 14 suspects arrested in connection with the recent violence and unrest in Kisumu and Nyahururu were arraigned in court today, July 13, to face the relevant charges,” the statement read.

The NPS said the arrests followed violent incidents that occurred in the two areas, adding that it would not tolerate acts of violence, hooliganism, or any attempts to disrupt public peace.

“The National Police Service will not tolerate violence, hooliganism, or any disruption of public peace. We remain steadfast in our duty to maintain law and order,” the statement added.

The police further warned that individuals involved in acts of chaos would face the full force of the law, while reaffirming their commitment to protecting lives, property, and businesses across the country.

The development comes after police reported that one person was killed in Kisumu on Sunday, July 12, following clashes involving rival groups.

Members of the public have been urged to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies, and report any suspicious activities at the nearest police station.
